And those were tears of joy, shed by Jaime Pressly, as she picked up her Emmy for oustanding supporting actress in a comedy series.

So, what's the deal with the posterior chat?

Well, on cccepting her award for oustanding supporting actress in a drama series, Katherine Heigl said: "My own mother said I didn't have a shot in hell of winning tonight, so I don't have anything prepared."

Shedding some tears she continued, saying: "I worked my ass off."

Speaking of which, the threads covering some of those famous behinds also deserve a mention.

Christina AguileraSongbird Christina Aguilera, who performed at the ceremony, opted for a floor-length, all white frock, which cleverly covered up all those, well, tummy bits we've been watching.

Desperate Housewives' Teri Hatcher got the fashion formula very wrong in a frock that could easily have passed for bedroom attire, but her co-star Eva Longoria sparkled.

Someone not getting the fashion nod is Ugly Betty's Vanessa Williams, who donned a, well, interesting feathered frock, but her co-star America Ferrera won in the fashion stakes, and the trophy department too.

Host Ryan Seacrest was in fine form on stage. Joking with Heroes star, Hayden Panettiere, he congratulated her on turning eighteen and commented: "My gift to you? Seating you as far away from Jeremy Piven as possible."
