Ant And Lisa's Big Day

Ant McParlin and Lisa ArmstrongAny event involving Ant and Dec is bound to be a laugh.

And the case was no less so than with Ant McPartlin's wedding.

The Geordie TV presenter married his love, Lisa Armstrong, in a non-glitzy do, accompanied by the rain.

But nothing could dampen their spirits, or Ant and Dec's famous humour.

Declan Donnelly had the guests in stitches with his best man's speech, which opened: "As you know, I'm the best man. I've always known that, it's just taken Ant a while to realise."

Referring to his currently single status, he went on: "Traditionally, the best man offers advice on girls and marriage. I don't know why they've asked me, I don't have a girlfriend and I'm not married.

Dec Donnelly"But I'm sure there's a girl for me just around the corner - unless the police have moved her on from there last night."

In fact, Dec bumped into none other than his ex, Clare Buckfield, at the nuptials.

A guest said: "Dec went up to Clare at the reception and the first thing he said to her was, 'Wow, you look beautiful.'

"They were getting on really well. Then when Dec got called away for more best man stuff, he looked a bit disappointed."

Ant and Lisa managed to keep the day as personal as possible, having refused any magazine photo deals.

They also provided each guest at their £210,000 party with lottery tickets. There were no jackpot winners but several people won £10.

A good time was had by all, as Ant's spokesman said. "It was a lovely day. It wasn't a showbiz do, just friends and family - and that's exactly what Ant and Lisa wanted."
