At the risk of sounding like our mums, we think spitting is a disgusting habit.
So we are very glad to hear that Avril Lavigne has apologised for doing it.
The singer was caught out gobbing (a charming schoolyard term) when she left a nightclub on her 22nd birthday and was greeted by paparazzi.
Avril didn't take it too well and apparently responded by calling out to a TMZ.com pap, "Hey f*******, come here," and then spat in his lens.
All in the presence of her pals and new hubby Deryck Whibley. Not very ladylike.
But Av's seen the error of her ways and has said sorry:
"I'd like to sincerely apologise for my behaviour with the paparazzi.
"It's trying at best to deal with their insistent intrusions. I meant no offence to my fans, whose relationship I truly value.
"I have and will always go out of my way for my fans."
