Band Aid's Sir Bob GeldofBand Aid's Sir Bob GeldofClose the betting on the Yuletide No1 - Band Aid's massive charity hit Do They Know Its Christmas? is to be released on its 20th anniversary.

The remixed version of the original will hit the shops in December and is sure to be favourite for the Chritsmas top spot.

On its release back in December 1984, the record was nothing short of a phenomenon - shotting straight to the top of the charts and raising more than £8m for famine relief in Ethiopia.

Composers Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure managed to attract the cream of 80s British music including Duran Duran, Phil Collins, Bananarama, Boy George and George Michael.

It was released again in 1989 and will now be brought out a third time with a brand new sound.

Sir Bob told the Sun: "I'm 100% behind it. The money will be critical as there are more severe famine conditions now and it will get worse.

"It is too early to say who will remix the record - I'll leave that to Midge to sort out."

It will feature both 80s versions of the song.

The original single prompted the massively successful Live Aid concerts in July 1985, held simultaneously at London's Wembley Stadium and the JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, raising tens of millions of pounds for famine relief.
