Beyonce KnowlesBeyonce KnowlesBeyonce has warned women off her super-thin, super-fast maple syrup diet.

And she wants everyone to know that she is very happy indeed with her curves.

The diet has caused something of a craze since it was publicised that Beyonce lost a stone in weight in just 10 days.

It consists of maple syrup mixed with water, lemon juice and cayenne pepper, which is drunk instead of meals.

But health experts say it lacks sufficient nutrients and could land followers in hospital within days.

Beyonce says she followed the diet to slim down quickly for her role as sixties soul diva in new movie Dreamgirls.

She said: "In Dreamgirls, (my character) Dina starts at 16 - and then 20 years pass.

"Back in the sixties, models like Twiggy were popular and I knew Dina would have been thin then.

"So even though I really love eating, it was necessary to lose weight really fast because we shot Dina at 16 and Dina at 36 two weeks apart.

"My nutritionist suggested the only way to do that was the (maple syrup) fast. As soon as it was over, I gained the weight back.

"I'm very conscious of being a curvy woman and I'm very happy that I am a curvy woman."

She added: "I would never recommend it to anyone unless you are doing a movie and it's necessary, and you have proper help."
