Bon Jovi star Richie Sambora - currently thought to be dating Denise - has hit back at rumours about the breakdown of his own marriage.

The guitarist was spotted getting cosy with Denise, his ex-wife Heather Locklear's former best friend, in April - four months after Heather filed for divorce.

It sparked whispers that the relationship prompted the breakdown of his marriage.

Denying claims of a secret affair, Richie told American magazine Us Weekly: "I remained faithful during my marriage. And I defy anyone to refute that.

"I will do anything to enable all of us to move past all of this."

Heather Locklear and Denise RichardsHis spokesman added: "His family is his no.1 priority. Richie is the greatest guy, and he wouldn't do anything to hurt anyone close to him."

Denise Richards filed for divorce in March 2005 from Charlie Sheen, accusing him of threatening her life, having a gambling problem and regularly looking at questionable pornography websites.

Charlie has hit back in an interview on Entertainment Tonight, calling Denise "vile" and "baseless".

Denise has also denied that her relationship with Richie is the reason why she and Heather are no longer friends, saying crypically: "Heather knows why we aren't friends."
