Tom CruiseTom CruiseTom Cruise has been dumped by his Paramount studio partners because the boss is not a fan of his recent behaviour.

It's believed this is a reference to Tom's antics such as jumping for joy on Oprah's sofa whilst declaring his love for Katie Holmes.

It's not known how much Tom's overt promotion of Scientology is also a factor, as well as his criticism of Brooke Shields for using anti-depressants to cope with postnatal depression.

Paramount boss, Sumner Redstone, has terminated his company's 14-year relationship with Cruise/ Wagner Productions.

He told The Wall Street Journal he felt Tom's behaviour on TV shows Oprah and Today had a negative effect on the box office take of his blockbuster War Of The Worlds.

Tom's creative business partner, Paula Wagner, told the Journal Mr Redstone's comments were "outrageous and disrespectful".

She said that it was Tom's agent who pulled the plug on the negotiations with Paramount earlier this week.

Instead, it's been reported that Tom and Paula are setting up their own independent operation.

"This is a dream of Tom and mine," Paula said.
