It seems to be the hardest word to say.
But popstrel Britney Spears has managed to do the honourable thing.
Sort of.
The singer sent a bizarre handwritten note to gossip site X17, apologising for whacking their paps with her umbrella just days before she trotted off to rehab.
She wrote: "I want to apologise for the past incident with the umbrella.
"I was preparing a character for a possible movie role where the husband doesn't play his part so they swap places.
"Unfortunately I didn't get the part, I'm sorry I got all carried away with my role! Britney."
Hmmm... Do we detect a hint of irony?
It's just that something about those lines don't quite seem genuine somehow.
They remind us of Brit's televised rant back in April when she babbled to the cameras after she baldified her bonce: "Like, I saw these magazines, and they said I was pregnant, and, like, it's so true.
"Like, America, believe everything you read because, like, you're smart and I'm stupid. Like, for real."
Well ooh-wee-oo, isn't she a sarky one?
