Sir Michael Caine says he could save ailing EastEnders - with a little help from Gwyneth Paltrow.
The cockney movie legend has strongly hinted he would like the chance to boost the show's flagging ratings, behind or in front of the camera.
The 71-year-old Bermondsey-born actor is a huge fan of the show and said: "I think I could do a lot to it.
"If I was in a situation where I was looking for work in British TV, EastEnders would be the one that would interest me."
Sir Michael, a double Oscar winner, reckons Paltrow would be just what the show needs after ratings slumped as low as 6.2m - the worst figures in the show's 19-year history.
"I'd get Gwyn to go out with all the British guys in the show - something controversial.
"She does a wonderful English accent, she does uppercrust superbly. Get Gwyneth in the middle, so to speak."
And Sir Michael would even consider taking a role himself.
He added: "Barbara Windsor was a big name in movies and she's happy doing it, so it's possible to do it, and do it with dignity."
