Some young patients were given a treat when one of Hollywood's biggest stars popped in for a visit.
The actress in question was in an entertaining mood: Catherine Zeta-Jones found herself on a busman's holiday as she performed balloon-twisting with Matt The Magic Man for the kids, under the proud eyes of her hubby Michael Douglas.
Until this year, Wales was the only European country not to have a dedicated children's hospital but the Noah's Ark Appeal, of which Cath is a patron, sought to rectify this.
The couple arrived at the Cardiff-based Children's Hospital For Wales to attend the celebratory phase one opening. Catherine praised it as a "fantastic facility" with its "amazing" staff.
The pair toured the premises meeting some of the children, before heading to the University Hospital Of Wales' Sports And Social Club where they were treated to singing and dancing by kids from the Rhydypenau Primary School.
Addressing the audience, Catherine thanked everyone for their support: "This is only the beginning and what a fantastic start it is."
Meanwhile, Michael had a few words of praise for his missus, calling her "one of your best exports".
Other celebs who support the Noah's Ark Appeal are Charlotte Church, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Ian Botham.
