A host of big names gathered at the Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain Awards.
Guests including Victoria Beckham and Charlotte Church honoured the nation's everyday heroes.
Host Carol Vorderman called on Rachel Stevens, Myleene Klass, Girls Aloud and Javine to sing Happy Birthday to one 12-year-old lad.
And there were big laughs when a film showed Catherine Zeta-Jones and hubby Michael Douglas popping up to surprise a Welsh firefighter.
Other famous supporters included former Dr Who actor Christopher Eccleston, Ant and Dec, The Osbournes, Prince Charles, actress Amanda Holden and Fergie.
There wasn't a dry eye in the house when the winners' astonishing tales were told.
Ozzy Osbourne said: "Whenever I have a bad day I just think of these people."
And Victoria Beckham added: "These people are amazing. It's so emotional I was thinking about wearing waterproof mascara."
