Has Charlize Theron been two-timing?
Yes, says a Swiss watchmaker, who has now slapped the actress with a lawsuit.
Watchmaker Raymond Weil has sued Charlize for wearing a Christian Dior watch instead of a Weil one, the Associated Press reports.
In court papers filed on Monday 5th February, the company claims Charlize signed an exclusive endorsement deal agreeing to wear only Weil watches from October 2005 until December 2006.
The actress was also paid "substantial funds" to appear in the company's adverts.
However, during the watch deal, Charlize was also the face of a Christian Dior perfume and was photographed wearing a Dior watch at a press event on the 14th March 2006.
The court papers claim: "The plaintiffs were led to believe, and had a right to believe by their written agreement, that (Charlize) would not promote jewellery or watches."
Weil also claim the actress wore a necklace benefiting a charity on another occasion:
"Although the agreement clearly prohibits (Charlize) from appearing in any advertisement for any jewellery, even for charity, she appeared wearing a necklace in an advertisement benefiting an AIDS charity, violating the agreement."
The lawsuit does not state how much Weil is seeking in damages.
The watchmaker's lawyer David Jaroslawicz said the company has spent more than £10m on Charlize's ad campaign.
There has been no comment as yet from Charlize's camp.
