Suranne Jones will go from soap star to private investigator in her first role since her tearful departure from Corrie.
The 25-year-old actress is set to star opposite heavyweight actor Ray Winstone in the new ITV1 drama Vincent.
Suranne will play a work partner of Winstone in the high-risk world of private investigations.
Millions of emotion-charged viewers watched the beauty quit her role as Coronation Street's Karen McDonald on Boxing Day.
But Suranne is now thrilled to be offered such a challenging new TV role so soon after leaving the soap and is relishing the prospect.
She said: "I am delighted I have got such a great job so soon after finishing on Coronation Street. It was a difficult decision to leave.
"However, this is exactly what I wanted to do. The script and the cast are fantastic."
Ironically, Vincent will filmed in Manchester, not far from the Corrie set.
Suranne said: "I had imagined I would be moving to London for work so it's an added bonus that I am able to stay in my home town to shoot Vincent."
Winstone's character, Vincent Gallagher, is a workaholic who sees his job as a moral crusade while Suranne plays his sidekick, Beth.
Former Coronation Street and Bad Girls star Eva Pope plays Vincent's ex and the series also features ex-EastEnder Joe Absolom.
