Stunner Samia - hairdresser Maria Sutherland in the hit soap - was presented with a £15,000 sparkler by property developer Matthew Smith.

And she admits she had no idea it was coming...   

"It was a complete surprise," gushed the 22-year-old actress.   

"But of course I said yes. And I haven't stopped smiling since - we are so happy."   

Fellow Street stars Tina O'Brien (Sarah-Louise Platt) and Nikki Sanderson (Candice Stowe) are tipped to be bridesmaids.  

A Coronation Street spokeswoman said: "Everyone is delighted for Samia and Matt. They make the perfect couple."  

The pair plan to start a family soon after the wedding. Samia recently said: "I'd love to be a young mum and have a large family.  

"I don't want to wait too long. But I'm quite traditional and I'd like to do it properly with a lovely wedding first."  

Samia has been with Matthew, 29, for two years. Previously she dated actor Ciaran Griffiths, who played PC Gary Best in The Bill.
