Antony CottonAntony CottonRaise your glasses to Coronation Street.

They're officially the hottest show in Soapland.

Yep, Corrie was named the best soap at the 2007 Inside Soap Awards for the first time in over a decade.

In past years the much-coveted gong has gone to EastEnders.

But want to know something even better?

The Showbiz Shed got to chat up a soap-sud storm with the stars on the red carpet.

Well, hunky Rob James-Collier, who plays Corrie's Liam Connor, won two gongs, as did EastEnders' Lacey Turner.

Winner of the best actor gong Corrie's Antony Cotton chatted to us, saying: "It's been a good year so far and this is a lovely treat."

Where will he be stashing his gong at home?

He said: "I have a few others, and I do have a mantelpiece, so they're kind of dotted around."

Ever the joker, he added: "Some occasionally do end up in the downstairs loo."

Erm, OK.
