King of Rock at 70King of Rock at 70Who on earth could this septegenarian be?

Well, we may never have seen the wrinkles before, but the trademark jet-black quiff should give it away.

Boffs have knocked up an image of what Elvis Presley would look like now to mark his 70th birthday.

Elvis died 27 years ago, aged 42.

Experts at St Andrew's University used the latest hi-tech wizardry to reproduce the natural effects of ageing on skin, hair colour - and hairline.

Professor David Perrett, who helped put together the image, said: "In the newly generated image there was no attempt to change the appearance of the hair.

"In common with many celebrities, Elvis may have chosen to use artificial hair and hair colour.

"While plastic surgery is often used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, the underlying skin texture and blotchy appearance may still give away the age of a person's face."

G Elvis Presley Jan 1964The King: Elvis PresleyElvis may receive a rather nice birthday present from beyond the grave - he's set to become king of the charts again following a surge in sales of Jailhouse Rock.

The song, which first went to No.1 on 24 January 1958, has been re-released to mark Elvis' birthday - and it's set to become the UK's 999th No.1, knocking Steve Brookstein off the top.

Latest figures show it is selling 3,500 more copies than the X Factor crooner's Against All Odds.

It would be Elvis's 19th UK chart-topper - the other 18 are all being re-released throughout the next few months.

An HMV spokesman said: "You can never predict the charts with any real certainty, but if Elvis does achieve this special landmark, it would be entirely fitting given his key role in shaping the charts over the past 50 years."
