And there isn't even any hope that hunky Nigel Harman will be returning to EastEnders.
His character Dennis will be killed off in a cold-blooded murder that leaves wife Sharon devastated.
An insider told the Daily Mirror: "The timing is particularly sad because Sharon and Dennis were about to leave Walford to make a fresh start. Everyone is totally devastated."
And there's a whodunit element too.
Dennis is stabbed on his way back to the Queen Vic after a fight with Johnny Allen.
He had left the battered Albert Square gangster with his mobile phone in reach... so could a hitman be the murderer?
Nigel, 32, announced he would leave the soap in August.
He's currently belting out numbers in the West End musical Guys And Dolls.
Don't give up hope though...
Dirty Den, Dennis's dad, played by Leslie Grantham, managed to return from the dead.
