Keira Knightley has beaten the likes of Angelina Jolie, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn to be voted the sexiest film star of all time.
The 21-year-old Brit babe, star of Bend It Like Beckham and Love, Actually, just edged Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie to top spot in the Empire magazine poll.
Knightley, who more recently starred in King Arthur, has drawn criticism and concern in equal measures for her waif-like figure.
She is also known for her very undiva-like qualities - opting for scruffy jeans and t-shirts on shopping trips, over Gucci, Dior and Prada.
But clearly her girl-next-door charms, unquestionable natural beauty and English rose qualities were enough to beat the glitz and glamour of legends such as blonde beauty Monroe, who placed sixth.
Another Brit, Lord Of The Rings star Orlando Bloom, was the highest placed male in the poll, making third spot, with Johnny Depp fifth, Hugh Jackman eighth, Brad Pitt a surprisingly lowly 15th and Oceans 12 mucker George Clooney trailing in 21st place.
Halle Berry placed fourth, Natalie Portman - whose double Knightley played in The Phantom Menace - 14th, with style icon Audrey Hepburn way down the rankings in 23rd - one place behind Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta Jones.
Kate Winslet, who topped the last Empire poll in 1997, dropped down to 35th while Kirsten Dunst (38) finished one place above former squeeze Jake Gyllenhaal.
Other notables were Paul Newman in 12th, man-of-the-moment Jude Law (28), Sean Connery (50), Jane Russell (63), Elizabeth Taylor (65) and Harrison Ford (88).
In 100th spot is little-known Japanese actress Chiaki Kuriyama, who appeared in Kill Bill: Vol 1. The 20-year-old's name, for the record, translates as 'chestnut mountain with full brightness'.
