George MichaelGeorge MichaelHe's made up with his old pal Elton but George Michael says he has no plans to follow the diva down the aisle.

George said he thinks it would "miss the point" if he tied the knot with boyfriend Kenny Goss - he believes marriage is about creating a good home for kids and he has no plans to become a father.

He admitted to the Sun that he wanted children when he was younger but hasn't thought about it since he realised he was gay.

He said: "I would never consider adopting a child."

But the singer said he supports the new legal rights for gay couples.

He said: "I will definitely sign the papers that will give Kenny the rights he should have if anything were to happen to me. And I'm so proud that nobody in this country bats an eyelid over gay marriage.

G Elton John, 06/04Sir Elton John"Of course gay men should have the same spousal rights as straight people. But I'm not into the idea of marriage as such. I don't see it as an institution that is absolutely necessary."

Fans will soon be able to see George - who admits being insecure about his looks - in documentary film A Different Story.

The movie charts his descent into depression - which he says he has at last happily overcome - following the deaths of his lover Anselmo Feleppa from Aids and his mother Lesley from cancer.
