Teri Hatcher's comeback from doting mum to award-winning A-lister is complete after she scooped a best actress gong at the Golden Globes for her role as Susan Mayer in Desperate Housewives.
It proved a successful evening for the hit show, which also picked up the coveted best television series (musical or comedy) award.
Hatcher, who took a seven-year break to raise her daughter, beat her show's co-stars, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman, for the award and immediately thanked US television network ABC for giving her "a second chance at a career when I couldn't have been a bigger has-been".
Sky One show Nip/Tuck, starring former Home & Away hunk Julian McMahon and Brit babe Joely Richardson, won the equivalent drama award.
Another on the comeback trail, British actor Ian McShane - best known as cheeky TV antiques dealer Lovejoy - was rewarded for his impressive portrayal of foul-mouthed Al Swearengen in Deadwood with a best performance by an actor in a TV series drama gong.
The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers won best mini-series or motion picture made for TV, while its star Geoffrey Rush took the best actor award in the category.
Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) beat strong competition from Larry David, Charlie Sheen and Matt LeBlanc to the best actor in a TV series/ comedy award.
Glenn Close (The Lion In Winter) and Angelica Huston (Iron Jawed Angels) took best actress and best supporting actress gongs respectively.
