It seems that if Tom Hanks broke down whilst driving across America he'd have no trouble cold-calling on someone's door to ask for help, as he's voted the nation's favourite movie star of 2004.
The 48-year-old actor proves he has staying power reinforced with superglue, after starring in over thirty hit films, bagging himself two Oscars and now coming out on top of this year's Harris Poll in the States.
He's managed to squeeze out Mel Gibson, who was the favourite for 2003 but slipped a place in the latest poll.
The highest climber was Johnny Depp, who leap-frogged from 10th to 4th, thanks to the success of Pirates Of The Caribbean and Finding Neverland.
The only female star to make it into the top ten is recent mother Julia Roberts, she's managed to barge her way into the male dominated chart for the last 6 years settling for 3rd place this time around.
Proving that movie goers are not fickle folk and like to stick by their favourites is the inclusion of John Wayne - the legend has been constantly in the top ten for the last 12 years - unlike George Clooney who's cracked the popularity list for the first time.
A loser this year is Tom Cruise, who slipped out of the list into the abyss of obscurity - for now at least.
