More thrilling than the fact that Beverly Hills 90210 is returning to our screens...

Hilary Duff could be joining the revamp of the series in a starring role.

It's crazy, we know, but producers of the frankly genius show have apparently approached Hilary to take on a major role in the remake.

Sources close to the programme told E! Online that the 90210 bigwigs are interested in casting Hilary in the role of Annie Mills, a high school student who wants to be cool and has a passion for acting.

Sounds promising, but there's no word yet on whether Hilary is defo going to take the role.

Still, even if she does turn it down, there are plenty of other older peeps who might be up for a comeback.

Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin in the original series, has already expressed an interest.

"I would love to be a part of it,"  Tori told Access Hollywood of the upcoming remake.

All this chat is making us bubble over with anticipation.

We just can't wait until the new 90210 kicks off.
