Asked if it was true that she had met stockbroker Tom Mahoney, 47, in a Hollywood florist, she said: "Yes, but don't worry, I didn't do anything inappropriate."

In an interview in Glamour magazine, the 43-year-old, who plays Bree in the hit US show, also told how she was rocked by allegations, made earlier this year, that she was gay.

At the time she brushed it off, saying: "I don't care what people think."

But now she admits it did rattle her.

She said: "I was upset because I didn't think anyone had the right to ask me that question.

"But I'm incredibly happy now with a man, so they're over it."

She also admitted that her engagement to 'funny, handsome' Tom has turned her into her on-screen house-proud character, adding that being in love has made her want to cook.

But she's still not quite nailed the housework, confessing: "I mean to be neater but I'm like a tornado."
