An actress claiming to be the ex-flatmate of Jennifer Aniston raised a few eyebrows at a recent book-reading evening.
She told an audience at Joe's Pub, in New York, her own personal story of a friend who undermined her...
A certain friend called 'Jane', who went on to star in a sitcom about friends who live together in New York.
The New York Daily News reported that actress Nancy Balbirer, 40, told the audience that 'Jane' lived with her in the late eighties.
She also said Jane was obsessed with her looks - especially her nose, which "came from her Greek half".
According to the paper, Nancy also claimed she had won a recurring part in the well-known sitcom but was promptly fired.
Jennifer Aniston's spokesman, Stephen Huvane, said of the story: "Jennifer does know this woman, Nancy, and she did live with her for a little bit, but did not live rent-free... They were never close friends.
"The girl did try out for a role on Friends but the girl just didn't get it. The cast doesn't get involved in casting, especially the first year.
"She just sounds like an opportunist who's using Jennifer to get attention. This is mean-spirited."
Nancy told the NY Daily News that her 'Jane' story is part of a new solo show and book she is writing, called Take Your Shirt Off And Cry.
It's all about her life in showbiz and Hollywood. Obviously we're taking it all with a liberal helping of salt.
