So it's good for morale to see them looking rough.

But don't get too excited in thinking this is how Kate Beckinsale looks when she nips out for a packet of biscuits.

Or that she makes ends meet with a second job as a waitress in a diner...

Because she's actually on the set of her new movie Winged Creatures.

However, the very fact that such a gorgeously glammed-up specimen as Kate can so easily transform into the dowdiest of creatures gives us some comfort.

Sure, how convincingly she plays the part in the movie will be down to her acting abilities (and let's not forget that actresses often get an Oscar nod when they frump themselves down for a role)...

But there's no acting in these photos, so take heart.
