Britain is buzzing with the prospect of Oscar nominees Judi Dench or Keira Knightley bringing home the best actress honours.
So how did Keira greet the prospect of bagging a gold statue? She fell asleep.
If the Pride And Prejudice actress wins the famous statuette it will make her the youngest ever woman to triumph in the lead actress category.
However, Keira doesn't seem that excited.
While her mum and assistant waited with bated breath to hear the nominations, Keira was asleep on the set of the latest Pirates Of The Caribbean film in the Bahamas.
"Suddenly I heard what can only be described as yelping and then my mum and assistant running into my room staying 'you've been nominated!'" Keira tells the Daily Mail.
"At which point, I have to say that I promptly said 'That's wicked' and went back to sleep."
No champagne? No jumping on the furniture with glee?
"I couldn't sleep properly anyway because people have been squealing all morning. I think it's going to be a squealy kind of day."
Meanwhile, fellow British prospect Rachel Weisz, who is nominated for best supporting actress for The Constant Gardener, is getting in the red carpet spirit.
After bagging a Golden Globe and SAG award for the role already, she's planning her dress for the next bash.
However, she'll have to be inventive with her fashion choices - the actress will be seven months pregnant by the time the ceremony comes round.
"I think my dress will require a bit more fabric than usual," she joked.
