Kelly Osbourne escaped serious injury when an electrical fire broke out at her parents' Buckinghamshire mansion.
Thanks to their £25,000 alarm system the 21-year-old, who was the only family member in the house at the time, was not hurt.
Kelly was asleep when the fire started but was woken by staff who heard the alarm.
Believing a dog was trapped inside the house ,she became hysterical as she was led outside.
A friend said: "Kelly was really upset, but the dog turned up safe."
Fireman arrived within minutes to extinguish the flames, which are believed to have been caused by a side lamp igniting panelling in the hall.
The Osbournes' staff had tried to put the blaze out themselves but without success.
Kelly's mother, X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne, was in Dublin shooting the talent show but promptly rushed back by plane.
Now Kelly's father, Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy Osbourne, is convinced his £5m home is cursed after a spate of recent incidents.
Ozzy escaped death in a quad bike accident on the grounds of the Chalfont St Peter manor house in December 2003, and they were burgled the following year.
A friend of his said: "He thinks the place is cursed. He had the alarm system upgraded after the burglary and it went off seconds after the fire began."
A fire spokesperson added: "Without a proper alarm it could have been much worse."
Kelly was unhurt; however, two members of staff suffered smoke inhalation and some of the Osbournes' "most valued possessions" were damaged.
