Little Britain star Matt Lucas has spoken of the anti-climax when he finally decided to reveal to pals he was gay.
The 30-year-old actor has rarely spoken about his sexuality but talked about coming out on the eve of the show's new series.
One of Lucas' most popular characters in show is Welsh character Dafydd, dubbed the 'only gay in the village'.
"It's funny because when you do come out you've spent years in the closet beating yourself up about it and you come out and everyone's cool," he told the Daily Mirror.
"It's a terrible anti-climax, you have been holding on to this 'dark secret'.
"It might have been the thing that defined you to yourself as special and different - and then you have to find something else.
"You have to go and find yourself a personality."
The tubby actor also said he enjoys donning figure-hugging PVC fetish gear for the role of Dafydd. He added: "I love wearing outrageous costumes with a figure like mine."
Lucas shot to fame as 'big baby' George Dawes on Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer's Shooting Stars quiz show in the 1990s.
