Amy WinehouseAmy WinehouseThe gloves are off, folks...

Amy Winehouse is going head-to-head with Lily Allen.

The celebrity smackdown comes as both singers have been nominated for Best Newcomer at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

It was revealed last night that Amy is also up for Female Artist Of The Year and Best Video for her hit Rehab, rivalling Beyonce in both categories.

Let's hope Lily gets her visa sorted by September 9th, when the awards are due to take place at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

The 22-year-old Smile singer didn't let being quizzed by the cops for five hours dampen her fun in Sin City. She said: "It's pretty surreal and I'm very honoured. It's a great country and a great place to be.

"I've never been to Vegas before, it's great to be here."

Both chanteuses are thought to be in line to perform alongside Rihanna, Kanye West and Mark Ronson at the ceremony, although speaking at a press conference Lily went all coy when asked to confirm this.

She said: "I can't possibly reveal that to you at the moment... It's going to be a surprise."

What a tease.
