Madge Adopts: The Truth

So imagine how excited we got when we heard that she'd adopted a baby boy from the African nation of Malawi.

How Hollywood. How Angelina, we thought.

But we were brought back to earth with a bump by the words of Madge's spokeswoman.

"She has not adopted a baby," said Liz Rosenberg.

Liz called the claims - which came from officials in Malawi - "completely inaccurate".

She did add, however, that Madonna wasn't bothered by the rumours, as it all helped to raise awareness of the plight of poor children in the African nation.

Madonna has been funding projects to help poor children in Malawi, one of the world's poorest nations. Nearly one million youngsters there have lost parents to Aids.

The "inaccurate" report said Madge was adopting a baby boy from a shortlist of 12.

Madonna already has two children - Lourdes, nine, and Rocco, five - her son with hubby Guy Ritchie. And there has been constant speculation over whether Madonna would expand her family.

So you can forget any hoo-ha over the baby's name... frenzied bidding wars over the first pics.
