Meet The New Dallas Girl

Well, for young, pretty ladies who want a part in a blockbuster it has.

But it seems that the front runners to play the character of Lucy Ewing in the new Dallas movie have been pipped to the post by a less well-known actress.

The word on the street was that Jessica Simpson was first in line for the role with competition coming from Lindsay Lohan and Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari (who also once appeared in Veronica Mars).

But the role has been nabbed by Katie Cassidy instead.

You might have seen her in When A Stranger Calls - if not, then you can catch her in soon-to-be-released movie Click - with Adam Sandler and Kate Beckinsale.

It's been reported that film bosses were keen on Katie because they didn't want any diva action on set, as a source told Us Weekly mag:

"Producers wanted to steer clear of the drama and also thought Katie was simply better for the role."

She'll be joining Jennifer Lopez, Luke Wilson, John Travolta and Shirley McLaine on the Dallas movie cast list.
