Mel's Sad Marriage Chat

Melinda MessengerMelinda Messenger has spoken out.

She's been chatting all about her marital breakdown.

Mel recently confirmed her trial seperation from hubby Wayne Roberts.

And now she's opened up on what went wrong in their 13-year relationship.

Chatting to Hello! magazine, 37-year-old Mel said:

"It was my decision and it took a very long time to reach. Things weren’t right between us and hadn’t been for a long time.

"On the surface it all seemed fine but I felt we’d lost a deep connection that I believe a couple absolutely have to have to be together. I know people will be wondering if anyone else is involved.

"There is no one else on either side. This isn’t about anyone else. It’s about us.

"It has been building for a number of years and we’ve had our issues to deal with and work through, which we’ve done. But we were left with a very different kind of a relationship."

Mel also chatted about the impact her and Wayne's marriage difficulties were having on their three children, saying:

"Two or more years ago our marriage had reached a very bad stage where we had lots of rows and fights. It was awful and it definitely impacted on the kids because Morgan (their eldest child) asked me why we were always arguing with each other. It was also having a huge impact on both of us, too, living that way.Melinda Messenger

She added: "There was no major crisis point that caused this separation. Because our relationship still wasn’t working, despite all our efforts, I felt that this was the only course of action left to take."

Wayne, who was himself present at the interview, said:

"As far as I’m concerned I’m a married man. I couldn’t begin to think about being with anyone else. Right now that’s not an option."

He said he felt "upset, devastated, guilty, confused and angry" at the split.
