Charlotte Church's plans to launch her singing career stateside are on hold.

Charlotte released her debut album late last year with the plan to launch as a US star - this time in pop rock and not classical.

But after lacklustre sales and her last two singles failing to make the top ten, Sony have now decided to "ice" the plans for a January launch.

A mole told me: "She's going in a different direction and as an artist you need total dedication to make it big in the US... even Robbie, with all his talent, has failed so far."
