Newly-engaged Paris Hilton shot to fame playing it dumb in reality TV show The Simple Life - but that's clearly one big act. She told me in London last week of her plans for a clothing range, pop career…and an Oscar.

Paris, who's just made her debut in horror flick The House Of Wax, secretly met West End theatre producers when she was in town, in a bid to land a role in The Prince And The Showgirl. Mariah Carey's after the same part in the play, based on the 1950s movie starring Marilyn Monroe.

Paris told me (in private, of course): "I've auditioned and they loved me. It's all about dates and contracts now." Oh, and she said not to forget to mention that her perfume's out this week too - as if I dare.
