But David Schwimmer's latest role is about as far removed as possible - he plays a serial womaniser in his West End debut.

David takes to the London stage next month in new play Some Girls alongside Vera Drake actress Lesley Manville and Troy beauty Saffron Burrows.

And the 38-year-old actor said at a photocall he will be fulfilling a schoolboy dream.

"I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to work on the London stage, a dream of mine since the age of twelve," he admitted.

Batman star Val Kilmer will star as lead role Frank in the stage version of The Postman Always Rings Twice at the nearby Playhouse.

Val, 45, is famous for taking over the role of the caped crusader from Michael Keaton, but hit the big-time when he played rocker Jim Morrison in The Doors.

He also played Elvis Presley in True Romance alongside Christian Slater, who also recently starred in a West End production of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

Other Hollywood stars to have embraced the London stage recently include Kevin Spacey, Holly Hunter, and Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall - with Brooke Shields also signing up for a role in Chicago.

Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kathleen Turner, Matt Damon, Friends star Matthew Perry and even Madonna have also appeared in the West End in the past few years.
