But at the rate they're raking it in right now, we're surprised they need jobs at all.

According to figures released by Forbes magazine, the 20 top American TV earners amass an eye-watering $723m (£361m.) between them.

Wowsers.

And way out in front is Oprah Winfrey who, on $260m (£130m), is a whopping $200m (£100m) ahead of the second placer, Jerry Seinfeld.

She's often thought by the American people as queen of hearts and mind - and the would-be presidential fave is clearly queen of wallets as well.

Oprah has an obliging habit of spreading her enormous wealth around a bit, having handed out cars, homes and even solid cash to her guests over the years.

Third place and flying the flag for Blighty is Simon Cowell, netting an estimated $45m (£22.5m) from his lucrative career as TV's Mr Nasty.

And 24 star Kiefer Sutherland just makes it into the top 10, with an income of around $22m (£11m) - useful little stash to pay off those bail clauses...
