It's not often we feel pity for Paris Hilton.

But now is one of those times.

The blondesome socialite has admitted she finds it hard meeting new people.

Just as well she's fronting a reality show to  discover a new best friend forever then.

Chatting to Associated Press, Paris spilled all on her mate woes, saying:

"It is hard meeting new people. Most of my friends I've had my entire life, like obviously my sister (Nicky) and Nicole Richie have been with me forever.

"So when I meet new people, I'm always a little wary of the reason they may want to become my friend."

She added: "I can usually just tell by when we're out in public and there's paparazzi around, I see, you know, who gets a little bit too excited or whatever. I can tell how those people are."

Must be tough being surrounded by publicity-seeking peeps - Paris is just, like, so totally not like that.

Her new MTV show, Paris Hilton's My New BFF, where she auditions regular folk desperate to become her perfect pal, will begin next month.

And by the sounds of it, it's in the nick of time.

So all you heartfelt, genuine peeps out there - step forth and offer Paris the authentic mateship she's craving.
