David Beckham has upped the stakes for husbands everywhere...
He treated Posh to a £20,000 night out, which started with a first-class return ticket from Japan.
"David went all out to impress his wife," a close friend told the Daily Mirror. "He is an incurable romantic and when he wants to lay on the charm he doesn't do it by halves.
"He and Victoria have had a fraught few weeks waiting to find out more about Romeo's convulsions.
"They've also both been very busy working. He thought she deserved to be spoilt rotten and shown how loved she is."
After the 6,000 mile flight, Victoria was whisked off to top London hotel Blakes and a suite filled with flowers and gifts. Becks then treated her to dinner at her favourite restaurant, Cipriani, for pasta and champagne.
Victoria had been in Japan researching her VB Rocks denim collection, when a courier arrived with the air tickets.
The friend added: "The ticket was for a flight that day. Victoria was confused as she wasn't due to return until the following Tuesday.
"But all soon became clear as David had enclosed a note saying how much he was missing her."
A spokesman for the couple said: "It was a lovely surprise for Victoria. She and David always make sure they take time out for each other."
