Madonna has turned down the chance for an all-expenses paid trip to glamorous Cannes on religious grounds.
The committed Material Girl was offered a coveted place on the film festival's panel of judges - but she said no as it clashed with her beloved Kabbalah meetings.
Madge would have had to travel back to London twice during the event for the gatherings and decided it was best to snub the invitation altogether, reports IMDB.com.
Maybe she is also a little upset her documentary was rejected for inclusion at the festival.
Disappointed Cannes chief Thierry Fremaux said he was keen to have the star involved as she "takes the cinema world seriously".
He added she would have also injected some glamour into proceedings.
"We talked about her being on the jury, but her religion meant this could not happen," he said.
"It is a regret because she has valuable knowledge.
"She would have to return to London every Saturday, or maybe it was every Friday, so for two days during our festival she would not be here and that could not work."
