In the strangest pairing since peanut butter and jam sandwiches, Russell Crowe and Prince Harry are fast becoming thicker than thieves.

On the surface, Russell and Harry have little in common. Probably the only thing they do share is their mutual dislike for the press.

But Russell has revealed he's been lending a sympathetic ear to the ginger prince's worries about life in the spotlight.

"If you've never been unfairly tried by the media. Your personality diminished, your intellect rubbished and your artistic achievements torn apart, then you just don't know what it's like," The Sun reports him as saying.

The pair forged a friendship after Harry sent Russell a letter apologising for not being able to attend the premiere of Master and Commander.
