Justin Timberlake's transition from pop star to movie star has not begun well. His performance in debut movie Edison is being panned by American critics.

He plays a tough journalist exposing corruption but acts "like a reporter from a teen magazine", says showbiz bible Variety.

The Hollywood Reporter magazine was a little more charitable, calling Justin's performance "green but earnest".
