The Hips Don't Lie singer won an amazing four trophies, including album of the year for Fijacion Oral Vol 1 and record of the year for her duet with Alejandro Sanz, La Tortura.

But far from thanking God and the academy for her success, she decided to express her support on a subject very close to her heart.

That of immigrants trying to become citizens of the United States while working without documentation.

She said: "I hope soon they will receive the recognition they deserve from the government."

Other multiple winners were Argentine rocker Gustavo Cerati and reggaeton group Calle 13, who took two awards each.
