Meanwhile, there was a standing ovation for Jamie Oliver, whose series Jamie's School Dinners picked up a gong.
And there was disappointment for Deal Or No Deal's Noel Edmonds, who missed out on winning his first ever Bafta.
He lost out to Jonathan Ross for the best entertainment performance prize.
Backstage, Jonathan said: "I kind of wish he'd won, which probably makes it worse for him."
There was only one winner for ITV on the night - The X Factor won best entertainment programme.
