The Spice Girls are reportedly furious and embarrassed at not being included in any of the five Live 8 line-ups.
But organiser Sir Bob Geldof has left the door open saying if they really really wanna play then they can...
The Daily Mirror quotes a band source as saying: "The girls are spitting with rage at this slur."
It says they are especially unhappy because Sir Bob and his aides seemed to confirm a few days ago that they were re-uniting to perform again.
But, it claims, other acts said they were against the fivesome's presence because their music did not fit in.
The source adds: "One minute they've been given the nod that their reunion performance will be one of the highlights of the Hyde Park gig on July 2, the next it's being put about that their services aren't wanted."
However, Geldof did hint that all may not be lost when he announced the Live 8 line-up at the launch.
He said: "I spoke to them this morning and it's looking very good.
"There's a lot of stuff they have to sort through. They are trying to resolve differences of many years."
The paper says Mel C revealed that Geldof had approached the girls - and she was desperate to do the show because it was for charity.
