Sadly, for some famous folks it wasn't a year of love and romance.

Rather it was a testing time of heartache and pain - a tough time, but imagine doing it in the public eye.

Sometimes, the break-ups have been amicable, such as Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro or Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth...

Then there have been the tricky ones, with insults flying and the public taking sides... think Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, Eddie Murphy and Mel B or even David Hasselhoff and Barbara Bach.

Then there's Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills...

And let's not forget the most disappointing of the year - Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. Damn it, that one made us a bit sad.
