Suzanne has opened up about her troubles, which began when she became pregnant with Corey, who is now three.

She told Hello! magazine: "I have never discussed it before. I was too embarrassed and proud.

"It was bad enough always being described as the woman dumped by Darren Day and left holding the baby, never mind the desperate straits I was in.

"We had a fabulous house but a very big mortgage. The money started to run out very quickly.

"When I split with Darren, he declared himself bankrupt a short while later and didn’t have any money to give me.

"I was told by four different debt advisers that I had no option but to go bankrupt. But I refused.

"I didn’t want to have a lifetime of bad debt following me and was determined to do anything to make ends meet and claw myself out of the situation.Darren Day

"I crawled on the floor to hide when bailiffs came knocking.

"I went without food so Corey could eat and kept a penny jar, where I would save enough to make sure I could buy bread and milk when I ran out of food.

"At one point my mum, Janet, who was living in New Zealand, had to order food parcels from a British website."

But after her triumph winning Dancing On Ice, Suzanne has a diary packed with work offers.

She added: "I had two years of bad luck. It was hard but I’ve come through it stronger and so grateful for what I now have."
