Tom Cruise has found time in between gushing over new squeeze Katie Holmes to dispel rumours that scientology was the reason he split from Nicole Kidman.
Gossip surrounding the demise of the Mission Impossible star's last marriage often cited Kidman's uneasiness with her husband's religion as a cause of their break-up.
However, speaking on US TV show Access Hollywood, Cruise rebuffed the suggestions adding: "Nic is not a bigot."
Though he didn't elaborate on the exact reasons behind their divorce, Cruise added: "With my children, like anything I believe, it is their choice in what they want to do - and they are Scientologists."
He was then asked if Nicole approved and he said: "Oh, yeah absolutely."
The A-lister went on to set viewers straight on his attitude to relationships, after being reminded that Kidman was quoted saying during their ten-year marriage that "monogamy is not a natural way of being."
"I believe in monogamy," he explained. "I want and I love relationships. I believe in the family unit. It is important, the family unit. Look at where the family unit has gone. It's disintegrated."
Twice-divorced Cruise has already talked about trying marriage and the family unit again with his new 27-year-old girlfriend Holmes.
