Nicole KidmanNicole KidmanNicole Kidman may have one of the most famous faces in the world.

But the Aussie actress - in the UK promoting her new film The Interpreter -  says try telling that to the jobsworths at the United Nations.

Nic plays Silvia Broome, a translator at the UN headquarters in New York, in the movie.

And during filming, despite the world and his wife knowing who she is, our Nic still had to provide identity every time she went into the building.

She said: "It never changed over the three months that we filmed at the United Nations. There was no cutting corners.

"It would take five or 10 minutes just to get through the gate and no matter how many times they saw you that day they'd check your identification."

Fellow Oscar-winner Sean Penn, who plays Special Agent Tobin Keller, will not be attending the red carpet event in London's Leicester Square tonight.

The film, directed by Sydney Pollack, sees Kidman's character accidentally overhear a plot to assassinate an African leader.
