We Do The Grammys

Our girl Dionne ClarkeOur girl Dionne ClarkeYes, our LA girl Dionne Clarke was there - in a v expensive frock.

And she was sniffing things out for Sky Showbiz.

Take it away Dionne...

Wow - what a day.

I met my friend at his hotel around midday, dressed to the nines, to make our way to the Grammys.

(I should prefix this by saying that Saturday I went shopping for a Grammys dress and spent more on a dress than I have ever done in my whole entire life. Put it this way - it was a four-figure price tag.)

We first attended the pre-Grammys telecast event at the Convention Center, which is where the majority of the awards are announced - that took around three hours.

Ne-YoNe-YoWe then left there to take the short walk to the Staples Center where the main Grammys event was to take place. The Staples Center is usually home to Lakers games so it was bizarre walking in there to see everyone all dressed up in their tuxes and sexy dresses...

However, everyone was tucking into Macky D's and hotdogs while standing up or perched by bins before heading in. There was no alternative; by that stage - around 4pm - everyone was starving so took what they could get. Ne-Yo saunters by and, after we're introduced, proceeds to share my fries with me.

Alicia Keys opens the ceremony with an incredible performance but the highlight for me was the Beyonce and Tina Turner duet - defying age and gravity with an astounding song and dance performance.

Tina TurnerTina TurnerThe Foo Fighters, Feist and Carrie Underwood also put in stellar turns.

The show goes out as live so in the commercial breaks the stars are milling around. Rihanna was standing up at any given opportunity - being particularly attention-seeking I thought - but she was delighted at having picked up her first Grammy.

Aretha Franklin was fantastic, although I spent most of her performance trying to figure out how many yards of fabric it took to make her bright yellow dress. She is a legend, but the outfits...

Fergie's performance with John Legend was a surprise - didn't realise she had such great vocal skills. She also looked amazing.

After the ceremony, back to the limo and off to the Universal Music after party where the likes of Fergie and Nelly were enjoying themselves.

So, now it's 1am and I just got back home, with a huge smile on my face, swollen ankles and an empty purse - who said La-la Land was glamorous?
