So, Tom and Katie picked an original name for their little nipper... nothing surprising in a celebrity doing that.
But just what does Suri mean? And we're not talking Princess.
Name-picking is always a tricky business; after all, it's something your kid is stuck with for life... and you're stuck with shouting at them for many years.
But a bit of research is always wise. In fact, not just a bit. A lot.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were clearly convinced that Suri would be perfect - and don't get us wrong, we think it's pretty too.
But, scratching beneath the surface of it meaning Princess in Hebrew and Red Rose in Persian, they might have changed their mind.
A llama? Not something you'd care to be named after. But Suri is a breed of alpaca from South America, known for its ability to make a good jumper.
According to our favourite alpaca website, championalpacas.com: "Suri alpacas are extremely rare. The suri alpaca is an excellent investment because of its rarity and inherent beauty."
But it's not just Llama that Suri Cruise is in danger of being nicknamed.
In Hindi, Suri is a boy's name meaning Lord Krishna.
In some Indian dialects, Suri means "pointy nose".
And in Japanese, it can mean "pickpocket".
